ZF SMG - Replacement Parts Availability
MODEL
E85 M54 with ZF SMG GS6-37BZ
E46 M54 with ZF SMG GS6-37BZ
E60 M54, N52 with ZF SMG GS6-37BZ
E60, E63, E64 N52, N62TU with ZF SMG GS6-37BZ
SITUATION
The ZF SMG Hydraulic Pump (P/N 23 42 7 507 107) introduced few months ago, was the first service part available for ZF SMG transmissions (refer to B23 04 06). Currently, other electrical and hydraulic replacement components for ZF SMG are becoming available from your BMW PDCs.
Note:
The correct selection of a Shift Actuator part number depends on a transmission serial number.
Part number 23 42 7 571 298 is used on GS6-37BZ with the last three digits of serial number HOC/HOB; and on GS6-53BZ with last three digits HPA.
Part number 23 42 7 571 299 is used on GS6-37BZ with the last three digits of serial number HOE/HOF; and on GS6-53BZ with last three digits HPC/HPE.
IMPORTANT:
1. If a SMG related customer complaint is encountered, interrogate SMG fault memory and execute all appropriate DIS test modules.
2. Replace an affected component when prompted by the results of DIS diagnosis.
3. For ordering any of the SMG transmission components listed above, you DO NOT need Technical Hotline authorization.
4. Prior to any work requiring opening of the SMG hydraulic system, the operating pressure must be reduced through the test module: "Before working on hydraulic system" found in Service Function of DIS/GT1.
5. After the work is completed, the SMG hydraulic system must be vented through the test module: "Before working on hydraulic system" found in Service Function of DIS/GT1. Check and top-off SMG transmission hydraulic fluid level using Pentosin CHF 11S, if needed.
