Subject
Humming/buzzing noise from center dash area when accelerator is depressed.
Model
E60 5 Series with the M54 engine.
Cause
Fuel line positioned too close to B+ bracket on left side of shock tower. Under acceleration when the engine achieves 1000 to 1500 rpm's, the fuel line vibrates against the bracket causing a buzzing noise which is amplified by the body.
Measure
Gently reposition the fuel line away from the B+ bracket to ensure that a minimum clearance of 10 mm is maintained. If noticeable chafing has occurred to the fuel line, a small section of rubber fuel line can be fitted around the affected area to further protect it.
