Rear Axle

37 12 220 Removing and installing/replacing rear active stabilizer bar

Special tools required:
^ 33 0 170

Important! Adhere to the utmost cleanliness. Do not allow any dirt to enter the hydraulic system.
Seal off pipe connections with plugs.

After installation:
^ Fill and bleed hydraulic system
^ Check pipe connections for leaks
^ If necessary, carry out initial operation for Dynamic Drive
^ If necessary, carry out initial operation for active front steering

Necessary preliminary tasks:
^ Remove rear wheel.
^ Convertible Touring only: Remove rear cross strut





Release screws (1).

Installation:
Tighten down screws (1).
Tightening torque; Line holder/pipe holder/holder 8 Nm
Align pressure lines to rear axle carrier.
Insert screws (1).





Place fluid sump underneath for residual fluid.
Release nuts (1..2).
Tightening torque 30 Nm
Disconnect pressure lines and seal off with seal plugs.

Installation:
Pressure lines are protected against being mixed up by different thread sizes.

Remove stabilizer link on both sides from stabilizer.
Release nuts (1) on both sides.
Tightening torque; Retaining bracket, stabilizer bar to rear axle support 28 Nm
Remove stabilizer sideways.

Installation:





Check anti-friction bearings on both sides for damage replace stabilizer bar if necessary.





Mounting pressure lines on stabilizer:
Pressure lines can only be positioned and secured on the stabilizer before the stabilizer is installed.
Use special tool 33 0170 to position pressure lines.

Installation:
1. Screw pressure lines using nuts loosely into stabilizer, do not tighten down.
2. Clamp special tool 33 0 170 to pressure lines and secure. Here side (A) with smaller notch must come into contact with hose adapter.
3. Tighten down nuts.
Tightening torque 30 Nm
4. Remove special tool.
