SUBJECT
Blower Motor Stays On with Key Off

MODEL
E60, E61 (5 Series)

[NEW] E63, E64 (6 Series)

Vehicles produced up to August 30, 2006

SITUATION
The customer states that occasionally after a long drive, the blower motor stays on at a reduced speed from the last setting on the control panel, for up to 16 minutes after the vehicle was turned off.

DME FC "2DED Battery Power management" may also be stored. This complaint will not cause the battery to be discharged.

CAUSE
Blower motor LIN-Bus communication error (blower in emergency mode).

PROCEDURE
1. Troubleshoot any faults stored in the system. Complete "Energy Diagnosis" test plan if DME FC 2DED is stored.
2. NEW Update the complete vehicle per SI B09 05 01 (Coding, Individualization, Programming) Procedure B, using Progman V23.00.00 (Target Data Status E060-06-09-520) or higher.
