SUBJECT
E60, MS45.1 - DME FC 28A2 and FC 2783

MODEL
E60 (5 Series) models equipped with M54 Engine up to 04/05

SITUATION
The customer complains that the "Service Engine Soon" light is illuminated and the engine control centers emergency mode.

One or both of the following faults are also stored in the DME:

FC 282A2 - Air path: monitoring,

FC 2783 - Hot film air mass meter.

CAUSE
Poor contact between the Hot-film Air Mass Meter and the Engine Harness.

PROCEDURE
On a customer complaint basis only, replace the Hot-film Air Mass Sensor with the improved part (PN 13 62 7 520 519). Do not replace the DME for this complaint.
