Installation Instructions
These instructions were developed especially for BMW vehicles and are not to be compared to any existing instructions for vehicles other than BMW. No methods other than those specified in this document are to be used to install this Description in BMW vehicles.

REMOVED PARTS RETURN PROCEDURE
For more details on the Warranty Procedure refer to Service Information B84 10 04 on the TIS website.
1. Place the removed 6.5" control display in the box in which the new 8.5" board monitor was supplied (1).
Place the removed M-ASK in the box in which the CCC was supplied (2).
2. Place the box containing the removed 6.5" control display (1) and the box containing the removed M-ASK (2) in the large box in which the kit was supplied (3).
When requested by BMW NA, ship the removed components to BMW WPRC using the regular parts return procedure.
INSTALLATION
Important:
Before doing the Installation, update the complete vehicle with CIP12.0 or a more resent CIP version.
1. Connect the vehicle to an approved BMW battery charger.
2. Using DISplus/GT1/SSS, with the diagnostic head connected to the vehicle, select Coding/Programming. Refer to SI B09 05 01 (Coding, Individualization and Programming) Procedure B for any necessary coding and programming. Note that CIP will automatically reprogram all programmable control units that do not have the latest software.
3. Disconnect the DISplus/GT1/SSS after the update is finished and no additional work has to be done.
4. Disconnect the battery.
5. Remove the decorative strip dashboard right. Refer to Repair Instruction RA 51 45 380.
6. Remove the center dashboard trim panel. Refer to Repair Instruction RA 51 45 310.
7. Remove the M-ASK (Multi-Audio System Controller). Refer to Repair Instruction RA 65 12 200 (Removing and installing/replacing the audio system controller). Set the M-ASK aside for return to BMW NA (see the Warranty Information sector of this Service Information).
8. Remove the trunk trim panel on left side panel. Refer to Repair Instruction RA 51 47 210.
9. Remove the Control Display. Refer to Repair Instruction RA 65 82 050 (Removing and installing/replacing the board monitor). Set the Control Display aside for return to BMW NA (see the Warranty Information sector of this Service Information).
10. Cut the protective strip E in half perpendicular to the adhesive strips (2).
a. Wrap the protective strip E around the LVDS cable already present in the vehicle (1) and close using the adhesive strips.
b. Repeat on the other end of the LVDS cable that had been connected to the M-ASK.
11. Secure the protective strip E with a wire tie I.
12. Repeat on the other end of the LVDS cable that had been connected to the M-ASK.
13. Ensure that the purple connector will connect to the onboard monitor and the blue connector to the CCC.
14. Route the LVDS cable C behind the air channel downwards to the center console.
15. Attach the clips G to the center console.
For vehicles with a single menu button:
16. Carefully unclip the menu button (1) by pulling upward and replace with the menu/speech button from the kit.
17. Tie back the LVDS cable, which had been connected to the M-ASK. If necessary strip about an inch of sheathing from the wiring harness.
18. Connect the GPS antenna, AM/FM antenna, LVDS cable, large square connector, and fan connector to the back of the CCC A.
19. Be careful not to crush the wiring harness or damage parts in the vehicle's interior while inserting the CCC A.
20. Insert the CCC A into the center console and secure with the provided screws H.
21. Clip the center console switch unit and automatic air conditioning control module to the center dashboard trim panel. Connect all cables and install the trim panel.
22. Tie back the LVDS cable, which had been connected to the 6.5" onboard monitor. If necessary strip about an inch of sheathing from the wiring harness.
a. Secure the LVDS cable C to the clips (1) on the 8.8" onboard monitor B.
b. Connect the LVDS cable as well as the main wiring harness (2) to the 8.8" onboard monitor B.
c. When installing the 8.8" onboard monitor B, be sure not to get any kinks in the LVDS cable C.
23. Disconnect the blue connector (1) from the Telematics control unit, located on the left side of the trunk behind the trim panel.
24. Connect the blue connector (1) to the corresponding blue connector (2) on the wiring harness.
25. After finishing the installation ensure all trim panels, bezels, etc are installed and secured properly. Refer to the Repair Instructions.
26. Reconnect the vehicle battery.
27. Connect the vehicle to an approved BMW battery charger.
28. Using DISplus/GT1/SSS, with the diagnostic head connected to the vehicle, select Coding/Programming. Refer to SI B09 05 01 (Coding, Individualization and Programming) section Retrofits".
29. Select option "CIP", then press the forward arrow. The initial CIP screen is then displayed.
30. Select "E60/E61".
31. Select "Continue" on the next screen with the text "If available..."
32. Press the "Load Software" button at the screen with the text "Program SELECTION: 1.Terminate CIP 2.Load Software 3. Car & Key Memory (CKM)...."
33. Select "No" at the screen with the text "Have control modules been replaced on this car?
Note:
For retrofits press No".
34. Select "Cancel Update" at the screen with the title "Status report".
35. Select "Retrofits".
36. Select "CCC".
37. Select "Converted" on the screen "Convert to Car Communication Computer".
38. Press "Continue" on the next screen.
39. Press "Continue" if the screen 'Selection of installed battery' comes up.
40. Select "Yes" for the question "Is a 110Ah battery fitted?".
41. Select "Accept" when the measures plan is Ok.
42. Select "Start" after "Measures plan has been determined".
43. Follow the On-screen messages to finish.
44. Perform a short test.
45. Perform a function check.
46. Include the CCC Road Map DVD to the vehicle.
