SUBJECT
No Communication or Diagnosis Possible With Instrument Cluster

E60, E61 (5 Series)
E63, E64 (6 Series)
E90, E91, E92 (3 Series)
Vehicles produced up to August 30, 2006.

SITUATION
The warning lamps in the instrument cluster come on and go out intermittently during the Instrument Cluster Pre-Drive check (after turning on ignition). It is not possible to carry out diagnosis of the instrument cluster using the DISPlus/GT1.

CAUSE
Instrument cluster software.

CORRECTION
- Perform a battery reset for at least 2 minutes by disconnecting the negative battery terminal from the battery. Note: It may be necessary to repeat the process a few times. It will then be possible to diagnose the instrument cluster.
- Program the complete vehicle per SI B09 05 01 (Coding, Individualization, Programming), Procedure B, using Progman V23.0 or higher.
