SUBJECT
Lights Do Not Switch Off Automatically

MODEL
E60, E61 (5 Series)
E63, E64 (6 Series)
E65, E66 (7 Series)

Vehicles produced up to August 31, 2006

SITUATION

Following the replacement of the Light Module, and with the light switch in the "low beam" position (position 2), the exterior lights no longer switch off automatically when the vehicle is switched off. Instead, a double gong sounds as a warning, together with a Check Control message in the CID (Central Information Display).

CAUSE

The Light Module replacement part is a new version module (LM2)

[NEW] CORRECTION

Do not replace any parts, as the light module is working as designed.

However, if the customer would like the original functionality restored, follow the diagnosis test plan, using the latest ISTA version.

In "Information Search", select the "Text Search" tab and search for "W6300" as the search term.

Select test plan "W6300_WAS21 - Lights not automatically switched off in switch position 2".
