Fuel Filter: Service and Repair

13 32 051 - Replacing fuel filter (N42, N62, N40)





Special tools required:
- 13 3 010 13 3 010 Hose Clip

Switch off ignition.





If necessary, remove left underbody paneling Removing and Installing/Replacing Left or Right Underbody Panelling.

Note:
The fuel pressure regulator is integrated in the fuel filter and cannot be removed.

In order to avoid incorrect installation, mark fuel lines on fuel filter.





Seal off all fuel hoses on fuel filter with special tool 13 3 010 13 3 010 Hose Clip.

This prevents excessive discharge of fuel from the fuel lines.





Recycling
Fuel escapes when fuel lines are detached. Have a drip tray ready.

Catch and dispose of escaping fuel.

Observe country-specific waste-disposal regulations.

Release clamps (1).

Detach fuel lines (2) from fuel filter.

Release clamp (3).

Detach fuel line (4) from fuel filter.

Detach vacuum hose (5) from fuel pressure regulator.

Release screw.

Remove fuel filter horizontally towards bottom.

Allow fuel to drain from fuel filter into a collecting tray.
