Removal and Replacement




16 11 030 - Removing and installing fuel tank





Special tools required:
- 16 1 060 16 1 060 Plug





Caution!
After installation of fuel tank/prior to first engine start-up:

Check the electrical resistance between the ground lug (tank filling pipe) and the wheel hub.

Measured value approx. 0.6 W

Fill fuel tank with min. 5 l fuel.

Draw off fuel from fuel tank Procedures.
Remove rear right wheel Removing or Installing Front or Rear Wheel.

Remove rear right wheel arch trim.





Remove heat shield (1) from tank.

Remove complete propeller shaft Removing and Installing Complete Propeller Shaft.





Release screws (1).

Remove lip (2) at rear left.





Release screws (1).

Remove lower panel (2) at rear left.





Unfasten hose clip (1).

Detach hose (2) from tank.

Installation Note:
Replace hose clip.





Seal hose with special tool 16 1 060 16 1 060 Plug.





Release hose clamps (1 and 2).

Disconnect lines and unclip from holder.

(1) - Tank vent
(2) - Fuel tank vent
(3) - Scavenging air line

Installation Note:
Replace hose clips.





Unlock plug connections (1 and 2) and disconnect lines.

(1) - Feed line
(2) - Return line





Release screw (1).

Remove holder for heat shield (2) on left and right.





Heavily support the fuel tank.





Release screws (1) for tightening straps (2) on left and right and remove tightening straps.





Installation:
Note rubber mount with spacer bush.

Wide collar on spacer bush faces towards screw head.

Tightening torque, 16 11 1AZ 16 11 Fuel Tank and Mounting Parts.





Note shim in locating tab.





Release screws (1) for tank mounting on left and right, lower tank (2) until hose and plug connections are accessible.





Right half of tank,

Unlock plug (1) and detach from delivery unit.





Left half of tank,

Unlock plug (1) and detach from fuel level sensor.

Lower the fuel tank and remove downwards.
