Removing and Installing/Replacing Airbag Module on Left or Right Front Door

72 12 010 - Removing and installing/replacing airbag module on left or right front door





Warning!
Read and comply with safety regulations [1][2]Safety Regulations for Handling Components with Gas Generators for handling airbag modules and pyrotechnical belt tensioners.
Incorrect handling can activate airbag and cause injury.





Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Disconnect battery negative lead Disconnecting and Connecting Battery Negative Lead
Follow instructions for disconnecting and connecting battery! Instructions for Disconnecting and Connecting Battery
- Remove front door trim Removing and Installing Left or Right Front Door Trim Panel





Release nuts (1) and remove holder (2).

Installation Note:
Tightening torque: 72 12 01AZ Airbag Modules.
Coat nut and thread with paint (any color and type can be chosen).





Fold back tabs (1) of plastic housing and remove airbag module (2) from airbag mounting.





Important!
There must be no foreign bodies (e.g. screws, nuts, etc.) in the airbag mounting (1).





Installation Note:
Slots (2) of holder (1) must be above threaded pins (3).
Point angled part of holder (1) to door trim panel.
