SUBJECT
[NEW] BTUM or CPT9000 Handset Does Not Power On when the Ignition Is Cycled On

MODEL
E65, E66 (7 Series) from 9/02 to 2/05 production

SITUATION
After programming the vehicle with Progman V21.02.00 or V22.x, the BMW CPT9000 handset or Bluetooth Upgrade Module (BTUM) does not automatically power on. The problem only occurs when the handset is left in the cradle and the vehicle has assumed sleep mode (approximately one hour).

Note:
Motorola V60 handsets without BMW software programmed into the handset will not support the power on feature.

CAUSE
Software error in the TCU

PROCEDURE
For all vehicles, on a customer complaint basis only, refer to the following procedure:

Update the complete vehicle with the most recent Progman version (Target Data Status E065-06-09-800 or higher). Refer to SI B09 05 01 (Coding, Individualization, Programming), Procedure B.

Note that Progman will automatically reprogram all programmable control modules that do not have the latest software.

Please refer to the latest KSD for all applicable labor operations and allowances.

If the appropriate labor operation is not contained in KSD, then a work time labor operation should be used.
