SUBJECT
MY 2005 N62 Engine Oil CBS Message Is On at a Low Mileage
MODEL
E60 (5 Series), E63/E64 (6 Series) produced from 09/04 through 03/05 with N62 and DME ME9.2.2
E65/E66 (7 Series) produced from 09/04 through 03/05 with N62 and DME ME9.2.2.
SITUATION 1
The customer states that the first engine oil service is indicated. However, the vehicle's elapsed mileage is still quite low.
SITUATION 2
The CBS correction test module will not perform an adjustment to the correct calculated percentage remaining.
CAUSE 1
DME ME9.2.2 software calibration error.
CAUSE 2
DISplus/GT1 diagnostic software error.
CORRECTION
On a customer complaint basis only, perform the diagnostic and repair procedures as described below.
PROCEDURE
For vehicles whose current accumulated mileage is less than 8000 miles.
^ For the E60 and E63/64, program the vehicle using CIP 16.1 (Target data Status E060 05 03 520), or higher, and perform an engine oil CBS correction, as described in SI B09 05 01, using DIS V41 or higher with Online update, UPD-DIS: CBS correction error_ME9.2.2.
^ For the E65/66, program the vehicle using CIP 17.01 (Target data Status E065 05 06 800), or higher, and perform an engine oil CBS correction as described in SI B09 05 01, using DIS V41 or higher with Online update, UPD-DIS: CBS correction error_ME9.2.2.
For vehicles whose current accumulated mileage is greater than 8000 miles.
^ E60 and E63/64, program the vehicle using CIP 16.1 (Target data Status E060 05 03 520), or higher, perform the engine oil service and a normal CBS reset.
^ E65/66, program the vehicle using CIP 17.01 (Target data Status E065 05 06 800), or higher, perform the engine oil service and a CBS reset.
The error with the CBS correction test module for ME9.2.2 has now been corrected with the Online release of; UPD-DIS: CBS correction error_ME9.2.2
[NEW] To receive the Online update DIS V43 has to be loaded. The DISplus/GT 1 must remain switched on during the night and the BMW DIS "Start mask" must be displayed. For DISplus/GT1/SSS Online update setup refer to SI B07 05 02.
The DISplus/GT1 will automatically check with the BMW server for the update. The update will be downloaded automatically and an information screen will appear after the download.
IMPORTANT:
The DISplus/GT1 must be rebooted in order to complete the installation.
To confirm a successful installation:
From the "Administration" screen select "Online Services" / "Installed updates".
The update designation: "UPD-DIS: CBS correction error_ME9.2.2" V6.0 confirms that the update has been successfully installed.
[NEW] This Online update is also valid for DIS V43.
