Erratic Fuel Gauge Operation or Incorrect Fuel level Display
Model
E65 and E66 7 Series from start of production through November 2003.
Complaint
Dashboard fuel display is not indicating actual fuel level. Reading may be too low or too high. In some instances, the customer has run out of fuel.
Cause
Poor contact between the moving resistor board and fixed contacts of the fuel level sensor.
Measure
Replace sensors with new parts. The construction of the fixed contacts were changed to stainless steel in November 2003. These new design parts are currently in stock. The part numbers remain the same.
