SUBJECT
NAV Voice Message and/or Text is in German or French
MODEL
E65, E66 (7 Series)
SITUATION
In a new vehicle, or when a NAV Computer has been replaced, the NAV audible commands and/or the complete text in the Navigation menu on the Control Display may be in German or French.
CAUSE
NAV Computer is coded incorrectly, and or the language is not set to English US.
PROCEDURE
[NEW] Before coding the NAV Computer delete all addresses in "Last destination" and in "Home".
Allow vehicle to enter sleep mode.
[NEW] Code the NAV Computer with CIP 13.3 or a more recent version and set the NAV language to English US.
For Navigation Software information refer to SI B84 01 02.
1. Connect the DEUTRONIC Battery charger to the vehicle.
2. Connect the diagnostic head to the vehicle.
3. Start CIP on the SSS, DISplus or GT1.
4. Select "E65/E66".
5. Screen shows "The vehicle order is being determined".
6. Select "Load SW".
7. Press "NO" for "Have control modules been replaced on this car?".
8. Screen shows "Fitted control modules are being determined".
9. A "Status Report" is shown.
10. Press "Cancel update".
11. Screen shows "Control module SELECTION is shown on the next screen".
12. Press "Retrofits".
13. Screen shows "Retrofitting SELECTION, Select retrofitting".
14. Select "Language".
15. Screen shows "Retrofitting SELECTION, Set languages
16. Select "Navigation".
17. Screen shows "Retrofitting SELECTION, Select subfunction for languages
18. Select "English US".
19. Screen shows "Retrofitting SELECTION, The English US language version is being loaded with supplementary languages French and Spanish".
20. Press "Continue".
21. Screen shows "Insert the current Navigation CD in the navigation system drive".
22. Press "Continue" after inserting the Navigation CD.
23. Screen shows "Wait until the CD is ejected from the navigation system".
24. Press "Continue" to confirm ejection after finishing update.
25. Screen shows "The measures plan is being determined".
26. Screen shows "A measures plan has been created...".
27. Press "Start" and wait until the vehicle coding is finished.
28. Screen shows "The car context is being checked again! Please wait...".
29. Screen shows a "Final Report".
30. Press "Finish" when the report shows green check marks.
31. End CIP.
IMPORTANT:
While programming do not eject or remove the Navigation CD from the NAV computer by pressing the eject button on the NAV computer.
Wait until the NAV CD ejects by itself this can take up to 10 minutes.
Always program the same language package as installed in the Control Display (MMI) English US.
