Trailing Arm: Service and Repair
Remove Left Or Right Trailing Arm
Without Full Chassis Alignment Check
Caution: After installation, carry out wheel alignment check.
Disconnect handbrake cable from wheel brake.
Remove coil spring.
Press output shaft out of drive flange.
Remove ABS pulse generator.
Mark position of eccentric bolt (1) to control arm with center marks (2); this simplifies subsequent camber adjustment.
Release nut (1) on trailing arm and remove eccentric bolt.
Installation:
Note insertion direction of bolt.
F = direction of travel
Fit eccentric washer (2).
Tightening torque, refer to 33 32 1 1AZ.
Unfasten nut and remove screw.
Installation:
Note insertion direction of bolt.
F = Direction of travel
Tightening torque, refer to 33 32 11 AZ.
Remove panel for fuel tank.
Mark position of bearing pedestal (1) to body (2) with colored mark (3); this simplifies subsequent toe-in adjustment.
Unfasten screws.
Installation:
Tightening torque, refer to 33 32 13AZ.
Note: Damaged threads in bushes on body side can be repaired with Helicoil thread inserts M 12 X 1.5 X 18. Install Helicoil thread inserts so that they are flush with original thread.
