Quarter Window Glass: Adjustments

51 37 154 Adjusting Rear Left Or Right Side Windows

Special tools required:
- 41 6 120

Requirement:
Convertible soft top must be correctly adjusted.
If necessary, adjust front door window glass in accordance with side window adjustment.
Remove upper section of side trim at rear.
Close convertible top and side windows.







Ideal adjustment in X- and Z-directions:
A Distance of seal (1) at rear to front door window edge at rear (X-direction).
B Submersion depth at top in convertible top (Z-direction).
Distances:
A 23 ...25 mm
B 5 ... 7 mm







Ideal adjustment of window (3) in Y-direction:
C Distance to front door window (1).
D Center setting, rear.
E Pretension, top.
Distances:
C Up to 1 mm towards inside
D With convertible top open, side window must rest outwards and inwards with same force.
E Seal (2) must be firmly in position.







NOTE:
For adjustment of distances (A) and (D) only:
- Disconnect plug connection (1).
- Unlock housing to gain access to screw (2).







Distance (A):
Remove rear body molding.
Tape off bore with adhesive tape (1) (damage to paintwork).
Slacken screw (2) through bore, turn clockwise with Torx E7.







Slacken nuts (2) and (3) with special tool 41 6 120.
Move window lift with window (1) to adjust distance (A) at bottom and tighten down nuts (2) and (3).
A 23 ...25 mm







Slacken screws (1) with Torx T30.
Slacken nut with special tool 41 6 120.
Turn window (2) to adjust distance (A) at top, tighten down screws (1) and nut.







Retraction depth (B):
Slacken screws (1) with Torx T30.
Slacken nut with special tool 41 6 120.
Adjust height of window (2), tighten down screws (1) and nut.







Center setting (C) and (D):
Turn screws (2) and (3) with special tool 41 6 120 to adjust center setting of window (1) and tighten down nuts (2) and (3).







Pretension (E) of window inclination:
Window (2) must run into convertible top seal when convertible top is closed.
With convertible top open, window glass must rest firmly against window seal.
Turn screw with special tool 41 6 120 to adjust pretension.
Tighten nut.
