SUBJECT
Fuel Gauge Fluctuates

MODEL
E83 (X3) From start of production to April 1, 2004

SITUATION
Fuel gauge fluctuates when the fuel tank is full. The fuel gauge occasionally drops to half full if a dynamic driving style is adopted. The fuel gauge climbs again when the vehicle returns to driving straight ahead.

CAUSE
Incorrect calibration of the gauge in the instrument cluster

PROCEDURE
In case of a customer complaint, recode the instrument cluster using current CIP 11.1, or later - refer to SI B09 05 01 (Coding, Individualization, Programming (CIP)), procedure E.
