Removing and Installing/Replacing Battery Positive Lead Between Starter Motor and Jump Start Terminal (M54)

12 42 550 - Removing and installing/replacing battery positive lead between starter motor and jump start terminal (M54)





Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Read out fault memory of DME control unit
- Switch off ignition
- Disconnect battery negative lead
Follow instructions for disconnecting and connecting battery Instructions for Disconnecting and Connecting Battery





Unclip cover (1).





Open protective cap.
Unscrew nut (1).
Tightening torque 12 51 4AZ [1][2]Power and Ground Distribution.





Remove cover for fuel injectors.
Unclip battery positive lead (1) from holder (2).





Unscrew nut (1).
Tightening torque 12 41 4AZ 12 41 Starter and Mounting Parts.
Detach battery positive lead (2) from starter motor and remove.





Note:
Check stored fault messages.
Now clear the fault memory.
