SUBJECT
Vehicle Lighting Flickers when Heated Seats Operated

MODEL
E39 (5 Series) with Heated Seats
[NEW] E53 (X5) with Heated Seats

SITUATION

The customer may complain that the vehicle lighting may flicker when the vehicle is running at idle speed with the heated seats on.

CAUSE

Because of the increased loads put on today's modem automobiles, the switching on/off of the heated seats, or as the heated seats cycle on/off during normal operation, the lights may flicker briefly as the vehicle electrical system adapts to the change in electrical load. This does not cause any harm to the vehicle and is considered a normal situation. please do not replace any parts to try and correct this condition.
