SUBJECT
Front Wiper Continues to Operate After Operating the Wash Function

MODEL
E53 (X5) with Rain Sensor (Option 521) Vehicles produced up to September 30, 2003

SITUATION
The front wiper does not switch off and continues to wipe after the wash function has been deactivated and the wiper is switched to intermittent mode/rain sensor (wiper switch in position 1). The wiper can be switched off by returning the switch to the zero position or by turning the thumbwheel.

CAUSE
Software error in the General Module

PROCEDURE
In case of customer complaint, replace the General Module with P/N 61 35 6 940 923.
