SUBJECT
Noises from the Auxiliary Water Pump

MODEL
E53 (X5) with N62 up to and including May 2004 production

SITUATION
The customer says that a pulsating/vibrating noise can be heard coming from the engine compartment. The noise is particularly distinctive at low ambient temperatures.

CAUSE
Auxiliary water pump bracket

PROCEDURE
Remove pump from the bracket at the front cross-member. Recheck the pump under conditions where it can move freely. If the noise does not reoccur, refit a new (more flexible) rubber mount to the pump (Part Number 64 11 6 955 123).
