SUBJECT
New Transmission Fluid Thermostat

MODEL
Z4 with 2.5 or 3.0 liter engines and automatic transmission





SITUATION
A new transmission fluid thermostat is now available as a replacement part for the models listed above. The picture below shows a comparison between the old style (1) and the new one (2). The old version is identified by the brass portion which is recessed under the plastic housing. In the new version, the brass portion protrudes slightly over the plastic housing. Operation of both thermostats is identical.

PARTS INFORMATION
The new thermostat, BMW part number 17 11 2 249 366, should now be used whenever replacement is necessary.
