SUBJECT
Battery Discharged

E85 (Z4) with SMG (Option 206)
Production period: April 2003 September 2003
SITUATION
The battery discharges after being out of use for a few days.
The sequential manual gearbox (SMG) is intermittently activated when the vehicle is stationary and the SMG lamp is lit.
CAUSE
Interference with powerful 315 MHz transmitters causes the General Module to activate the SMG hydraulics unit when the vehicle is parked.
PROCEDURE
In the case of a customer complaint, perform Diagnostics to determine whether any faults are stored that cause an increase in the closed circuit current.
If there are no other reasons for high closed circuit current, replace the General Module.
