SUBJECT
Airbag Light Comes on: SBSx FC 98D6 or 98D9

MODEL
E85 (Z4) From start of series production to September 2003

SITUATION
The airbag warning light comes on.

One or both of the following fault codes is stored in the fault memory of the Satellite B-pillar, right (SBSR) or Satellite B-pillar, left (SBSL):
- 98D6
- 98D9

CAUSE
Faulty soldered joint in the right-hand and/or left-hand B-pillar satellite (SBSR/SBSL).

PROCEDURE
Depending on the fault code entered (SBSR and/or SBSL), replace the part with one currently listed in the EPC.
