E85 SBSL/SBSR FC 9897/9917 EAM Parameter Inconsistent
Complaint
After recoding the vehicle (either all control modules or specifically the B-Pillar - satellites) the fault "EAM parameter inconsistent" is recorded in the SBSL (9897) and/or the SBSR (9917). The airbag warning lamp is activated. These faults can be cleared but the airbag warning lamp stays activated. After a sleep/wakeup cycle the faults reoccur.
Vehicles affected:
E85 (Z4) from October 2003 to March 2004.
Cause
Error with SBSL/SBSR coding index 4 CIP 16.x and 17.x. Coding index 5 is unaffected.
Measure
Reprogram the SBSR and SBSL using CIP 16.0 or later to update the modules to the latest software and coding index 5.
Follow the general procedures for CIP programming as per B09 0501.
Select "Load SW" and identify that the module has not been replaced.
Select SBSR/Programming/Update S/W.
Print the Measures Plan.
After programming is completed, the module is coded, the system time is restarted, and faults are cleared automatically.
Print the Final Report.
Select SBSL, and repeat the above procedure.
