51 71 120 Removing And Installing/Replacing Cowl Panel Seal

Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Follow repair instructions for bonded seals.
- Remove trim for roofliner
- Remove both trim panels for roof pillar







Removal:
Release left and right screws (1).
Detach seal (2) from window frame.

NOTE:
- Seal (1) is secured to A-pillar with butylene tape or double-sided adhesive tape.
- Clean adhesive area prior to installation.







Installation:
Release screws (1) and remove trim (2).

Feed in seal (1) on trim (2) and position on window frame.







Slide seal (1) with trim (2) under rubber frame (3).







Secure trim (2) with screws (1).

NOTE: Seal must rest correctly on trim and under rubber guide (see previous work step).







Secure seal (2) with screws (1) on left and right.
Feed in seal (2) in trim (3) over entire length.

Attach 6 mm dia. butylene tape between seal (1) and trim strip (2) according to measurement (A).
A = 75 mm
Fit seal (1) on A-pillar.







NOTE: Seal (1) must be seated in area (3) without gap on trim strip (2).







Feed in seal (1) at bottom correctly in door seal.
Detach liner* in area (A) from seal (1) and stick to A-pillar.
*Liner is protective film for adhesive tape
