Starter Motor: Service and Repair




Removing And Installing/Replacing Starter Motor (M54)

Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Follow instructions for disconnecting and connecting battery
- Disconnect battery negative lead from battery
- Remove intake filter housing

NOTE: All the tasks can be performed from above.







Release nut (1) and remove lead from starter motor.

Installation:
Tightening torque, M5 = 5 Nm
M6 = 7 Nm
M8 = 13 Nm


Release nut (2) and remove battery positive leads from starter motor.

Installation:
Tightening torque, M5 = 5 Nm
M6 = 7 Nm
M8 = 13 Nm
.

Release screws (3) and remove starter motor (4).

Installation:
Tightening torque, 45 Nm.







Installation:
Check starter motor pinion and ring gear for damage.
