Hard Top: Adjustments

54 21 ... Adjusting Hard Top

Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Fit hard top







Adjustments at rear fastener:
Lateral adjustment (Y-axis)
- Release nuts (1) on left and right.
- Align hard top in "Y" direction symmetrically

Vertical adjustment (Z-axis)
- Release nut (1) and adjust height clearance "Z" between hard top and body with nut (2)

Longitudinal adjustment (X-axis)
- Release screws (3).
- Adjust hard top in "X" direction







Adjustments at front fastener:
By removing or adding shims, it is possible to align the hard top to the cowl panel:
A) vertically
B) longitudinally to the vehicle

Installation:
- Screw on hard top fasteners loosely.
- Fit hard top and lock carefully
- Check hard top in (A) and (B)
- Unlock hard top and remove carefully.
- If necessary, add or remove shims
- Tighten down screws and nuts.

Check gap dimensions.
If necessary, check for leaks (e.g. with sound measuring instrument, refer to BMW Equipment Catalog).
