SI B67 01 05

July 2005
Technical Service

PERFORM THE PROCEDURE OUTLINED IN THIS SERVICE INFORMATION ON ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES THE NEXT TIME THEY ARE IN THE SHOP FOR MAINTENANCE OR REPAIRS.

SUBJECT
Service Action: Replace the Rollover Sensor

MODEL
E46 (3 Series) convertible

SITUATION

Vehicles within the production range have a rollover sensor which has an insufficient coating on the integrated printed circuit board. Under extreme high temperature and high humidity conditions, the sensor's measuring capability may be impaired. If this where to occur, the Rollover Protection System (RPS) would switch off and the driver would be alerted by an indicator lamp in the instrument cluster.

AFFECTED VEHICLES

This Service Action involves 3 Series convertible models which were produced from 28 February of 2005 through 4 March of 2005.

In order to determine if a specific vehicle is affected by this Service Action, it will be necessary to utilize the "Service Menu" of the DCS (Dealer Communication System). Based on the response of the system, either proceed with the corrective action or take no further action.

The Chassis Number Ranges shown are only for informational purposes and are not to be considered as the only deciding factor.
