A/C Compressor Noise "Droning, Howling or Ticking" at Low Engine Speed
MODEL
E60, E61 (5 Series) with N62 engine

[NEW] Vehicles with manual transmission produced up to July 19, 2004
[NEW] Vehicles with automatic transmission produced up to September 24, 2004
SITUATION
The customer complains of a droning, howling or ticking noise emitted from the A/C compressor and transmitted into the vehicle via the A/C lines. This is more noticeable when pulling away at lower engine speeds [NEW] (500-550 rpm).
CAUSE
A/C compressor pulley
PROCEDURE

Please refer to the latest KSD for all applicable labor operations and allowances.
If the appropriate labor operation is not contained in KSD, then a work time labor operation should be used.
