51 45 031 - Replacing instrument panel trim





Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove instrument panel trim 51 45 030 Removing and Installing Instrument Panel Trim
- Protective cover (refer to BMW Parts Service) must also be ordered





Release screws (1) and remove ignition starter switch (2).





Modify all attachment parts (air ducts, brackets, trims, clips and grommets).





If necessary, retrofit protective cover:
Check new instrument panel to see if protective cover is fitted.
If not, fit protective cover (1) as follows:
Place protective cover (1) over studs.
Straight side points to air duct (2).





Install mounting frame (1).
Tighten screws in marked area.
Tightening torque: 72 12 05AZ Airbag Modules.
