SUBJECT
N73- Erroneous Low Oil Level Warning Message While Driving

MODEL
E65, E66 with N73 produced up to 04/01/2006

SITUATION
The customer complains that the "Engine oil level below minimum" Check Control message is displayed while the vehicle is being driven. The engine oil level is OK and the vehicle responds properly after a restart.

CAUSE
DME software calibration error.

CORRECTION
Do not replace any parts!

On a customer complaint basis only, Reprogram and recode the entire vehicle using

Progman V23.01.00 (Target data status: E065-06-09-530) or higher.

WARRANTY
Covered under the terms of the BMW New Vehicle Limited Warranty.

For the appropriate labor operation and allowance please refer to the KSD system.
