SUBJECT
Airbag Fault 97C9: Passenger Seat Satellite

MODEL
E65, E66 (7 Series)

SITUATION
The airbag warning lamp is permanently lit.

The following fault code is stored in the fault code memory of the passenger seat satellite (SSBF):

"97C9 - Ignition circuit squib resistance on passenger seat belt tensioner too small"

CAUSE
The short circuit jumper in the connector housing of the SSBF is not adequately separated from the plug contacts when the plug is connected.

PROCEDURE
In the event of a customer complaint, carry out diagnostics with DISPlus/GT1. Work through the appropriate test module. Disconnect and then reconnect the SSBF connector making sure it is fully locked in position. If necessary replace the faulty component.
