Function
The tailgate release facility makes it possible to release and open both sections of the tailgate electrically. The tailgate is released via a special drive with integrated restoring spring.

The drive for the upper tailgate is actuated via a relay in the general module. The drive for the lower tailgate is actuated via an external relay.

The upper tailgate must be opened before the lower tailgate can be released. The general module recognizes this status via the tailgate contact.

Three buttons are installed in the vehicle for unlocking the two tailgate sections.
- Button on outside of tailgate
Used to release the upper tailgate when the vehicle is unlocked.

- Interior button in switching center
Used to release the upper tailgate also when the vehicle is locked but only at a speed < 6 km/h.

- Button in lower tailgate
Used to release the lower tailgate.

The upper tailgate can be additionally unlocked via the remote control.
