Replacing Left or Right Control Arm


Replacing left or right control arm

Caution:
Align/adjust front axle after assembly.

Remove wheel.





Release nut (1) and remove control arm from front axle support.
Release nut (2) by only 3 thread turns so that control arm is not flung away unsupervised when forced off.

Installation:
Tapered spigot and bore both free of grease.
Replace self-locking nut.
Tightening torque for nut (1):
- Control arm to front axle support:
Jointing Torque: 100 Nm
Torque Angle: 90 ° ± 15 °
Replace screw/nut
Tighten in empty weight on normal position.
Tightening torque for nut (2):
- Control arm on steering knuckle/swivel bearing 80 Nm

brace on hexagon socket if necessary.





Press control arm off swivel bearing with special tool 31 2 240.
Release nut and remove control arm.
