SITUATION
Not all MP3 (MPEG-1 Audio Layer 3) CDs can be played in the CCC (Car Communication Computer) CD player.

CAUSE

^ Not all CD audio formats are supported.

^ Errors caused by CD burners or burning software.

^ Errors on the disc itself.

PROCEDURE
Refer to SI B65 30 05 for a listing of which vehicles are MP3-compatible.
Obtain a known good MP3 disc and verify that the disc works properly in the customer's vehicle.

If the test MP3 disc works properly, check the following points.

The CCC supports the following CD audio formats:

^ CD-DA (digital audio) including text (only with a sampling rate of 44.1 kHz)

^ CD-ROM (for playing compressed audio formats such as MP3, etc.)

^ Enhanced music CD

^ Mixed mode CD (where data tracks are ignored by the drive).

The CCC does not support the following CD audio formats:

^ MP3Pro

^ Variable bit rates

^ CD-MRWs (Mt. Rainer CD-RWs)

^ Super Audio layer on SACD (Super Audio CD)

^ WMA (Windows Media Audio)

If the formatting of the audio CD is correct, the errors may have been created during the burning of the CD or on the disc itself.

Parts should not be replaced if the incorrect formats are used.
