A/C/Interior - Cannot Adjust Center Fresh Air Vent

SUBJECT
It is Not Possible to Adjust the Center Fresh Air Grill
MODEL
E90 (3 Series)
SITUATION
The center vent fresh air grill can no longer be adjusted (stiff or no function).
CAUSE
Broken or misaligned fresh air grill connecting rod.
PROCEDURE
1. Remove the fresh air grill in accordance with Repair Instructions (RA 64 22 162).
2. Check whether the fresh air grill is broken and replace as necessary.
3. If no damage is found to the fresh air grill, but the cause of the fault is a detached or incorrectly fitted connecting rod proceed to the next step.
4. Align the coded mark on the connecting rod between the 2 coded marks on the gear wheel of the shutoff flap.
5. Recheck operation and reinstall fresh air grill.
