Adjusting Convertible Top (Mechanical)

54 31 000 Adjusting Convertible Top (Mechanical)

Special tools required:
- 00 2 550
- 00 9 312

NOTE: Adjustments of mounting bracket for EH convertible top and convertible top (mechanical) are identical.

Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove convertible top
- Support convertible top compartment cover

IMPORTANT: Do not damage paintwork.







Auxiliary tools:
(1) Rail (e.g. square-section tube) in vehicle width
(2) Spacer (e.g. special tool 00 9 312)
- Measuring slide00 2 550

Measuring setup:
Position rail (1) on side panel in area of convertible top compartment lid lock on left and right.
Support rail (1) on left and right on side wall with a spacer (2) each.

NOTE: Rail (1) with spacer (2) must rest on top edge of side panel on left and right; if necessary, partially detach rubber from vehicle.







Adjusting:
Turn adjusting sleeves (1) with special tool 54 3 000 (2) for height adjustment.
(1) Adjusting sleeves and retaining pins of mounting bracket for height adjustment
(2) special tool 54 3 000
(3) Adjusting screw for longitudinal direction







Check points:
Measure close to retaining pins of console with measuring slide 00 2 550.
Measurement (A) = approx. 209 mm (front retaining pin)
Measurement (B) = approx. 211 mm (middle retaining pin)
Measurement (C) = approx. 162 mm (rear retaining pin)







NOTE:
(1) Rail
(2) Spacer

NOTE: If necessary, place convertible top on retaining pins and tighten nuts until hand-tight.

Check function.
Check adjustment of convertible top cover lock at cowl panel, adjust if necessary.

NOTE: Measure height of auxiliary tools (1) and (2) with measuring slide in compressed state on left and right.

Calculating height of auxiliary tools:







Measurement (B) at middle retaining pin:
