SUBJECT
Automatic Roller Cover does not Extend Downward

MODEL
E61 (5 Series Sports Wagon) equipped with the automatic tailgate operation, option 316, and produced between February 28, 2006 and February 25, 2007

SITUATION
When the automatic roller cover is in the upward/loading position, and the tailgate or the rear window is closed, the roller cover should automatically extend downward to the closed position.

On some vehicles, the roller cover will not extend downward as intended.

CAUSE
The drive for the roller cover is self-locking at the upper limit position and is not released when the tailgate or rear window is closed.

CORRECTION
A software update, available as of Progman V25.0.0, will correct this situation.

PROCEDURE

^ Program and code the entire vehicle using Progman V25.0.0 or higher.
