SUBJECT
Harsh 2-1 Downshift
MODEL
[NEW] E60 (5 Series) with N62 and GA6HP26Z produced from SOP up to 9/2005
NEW E63, E64 (6 Series) with N62 and GA6HP26Z produced from SOP up to 9/2005
[NEW] SITUATION
The customer may complain of a harsh downshift under the following conditions:
1. When slowing to a stop
2. Reaccelerating from a stop or a rolling stop
This maybe most noticeable on an uphill or rising gradient road, however it is usually difficult to reproduce.
[NEW] CAUSE
EGS software calibration.
[NEW] CORRECTION
On a customer complaint basis only, follow the procedure below:
Perform a "Short test" and correct all Drivetrain related faults first.
Submit a Puma case titled "2 -1 Tip-In Code" to obtain the access code needed to complete the retrofit reprogramming of the EGS module.
Please refer to the retrofit procedure as described in SI B09 05 01.
Start a Progman session using only V24.01 or higher and select "2-1 Tip In" from the Retrofit options menu.
Important:
Transmission temperature must remain below 50 deg C and transmission must be in the PARK position prior to the start of programming.
