Pairing between the iPhone and the Vehicle Fails

E60, E61 (5 Series) vehicles produced from 9/2004

E63, E64 (6 Series) vehicles produced from 9/2004

E65, E66 (7 Series) vehicles produced from 3/2005

E83 (X3) vehicles produced from 9/2006

E85 (Z4) vehicles produced from 10/2006

E70 (X5) vehicles produced from 10/2006

All of the above-mentioned vehicles with Premium Package (ZPP) or BMW Assist(TM) (SA 639)

SITUATION
The customer states that the pairing between the iPhone and the vehicle fails.

CAUSE
Bluetooth(R) communication problems with the iPhone

PROCEDURE

1. Ensure that the iPhone has the latest software version loaded (v1.1.4). Refer to the telephone owner's manual for instructions on how to identify the software. Always refer to www.wireless4bmw.com for the latest telephone handset compatibility information.

2. Deactivate the Bluetooth(R) function on the iPhone as follows: from the Home screen, choose Settings > General > Bluetooth, and then turn Bluetooth(R) off.

3. Reactivate the Bluetooth(R) function on the iPhone as follows: from the Home screen, choose Settings > General > Bluetooth, and then turn Bluetooth(R) on.

4. Pair the telephone to the vehicle again. Refer to SI B84 13 04 and www.wireless4bmw.com for pairing instructions.
