Refrigerant circuit is under high pressure!
Follow safety instructions for handling R 134a refrigerant.
Avoid contact with refrigerant and refrigerant oil.

Important!
Risk of damage!
Restart engine only when A/C system has been correctly filled.
Follow instructions Removal and Replacement for opening and replacing parts in refrigerant circuit.
If A/C system is opened for more than 24 hours:
Replace desiccant insert for A/C system
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Drawing off, evacuating and filling the A/C system Drawing off, Evacuating and Filling A/C System (R 134a) is not included in the time value for this operation
- Remove expansion valve cover Removing and Installing/Replacing Expansion Valve
- Remove trim in center console at front left 51 16 195 Removing and Installing Center Armrest
Remove foam cover (1) in direction of arrow.
Expose screw heads (2).
Release screws (1).
Detach refrigerant lines (2) in direction of arrow.
Installation Note:
Replace sealing rings and moisten with refrigerant oil.
Release screw (1).
Detach refrigerant lines (2) in direction of arrow.
Remove plate (3).
Installation Note:
Replace sealing rings and moisten with refrigerant oil.
Release screws (1).
Detach refrigerant lines (2) in direction of arrow.
If necessary, remove plate (3).
Remove expansion valve.
After installation:
- Evacuate and fill A/C system Drawing off, Evacuating and Filling A/C System (R 134a)
