The MRS3 system was launched with the arrival of the 2stage drivers airbag in March 199 9. Another innovation on the MRS3 was its connection with the Kbus. The previous MRS systems had been hooked up to the diagnostic bus. The exception in that regard was the E36/7 (Z3). Since the Z3 has no Kbus, the MRS3 on the Z3 remained connected to the diagnostic bus.
