MRS 1With the introduction of the side airbags in March 1996, the MRS1 replaced the ZAE/BAE control unit used until then on the E38/E39. When the side airbags were introduced, two MRSA external sensors were also added for improved side-impact detection.
Because of the required number of inputs/outputs, the number of pins had to be increased from 30 to 50.
