[NEW] Airbag Warning Lamp, FC 93EB or FC 55

MODEL
[NEW] E90, E91 (3 Series) and E83 (X3) Vehicles produced March 31, 2006

SITUATION

[NEW] The red airbag warning lamp (AWL) in the instrument cluster is illuminated and a fault code for "Emergency call function..." is stored in the MRS5 (Multiple Restraint System) control module. The fault code is FC 93EB for E90/E91 or FC 55 for X3. The fault occurs regardless of whether the vehicle has a TCU (Telematics Control Unit), or not.

There is no test module available in the diagnosis test plan.

CAUSE

Internal varistor fault within the MRS control module.

[NEW] CORRECTION

Replace the MRS5 control module - refer to repair instruction RA 65 77 016 (Removing and installing/replacing airbag control unit)

E90 - Program vehicle as described in SI B09 05 01 (Coding, Programming and Individualization), Procedure A.

E83 - Code the MRS control module as described in SI B09 05 01 (Coding, Programming and Individualization), Procedure E.

The TCU must not be replaced.
