Failure to comply with the following instructions may result in the vehicle slipping off the lifting platform and critically injuring other persons.
Read and observe the information on load disctribution in the lifting platform operating instructions.
Before lowering/ removing the rear axle carrier, it is essential to place a minimum load of 100kg in the luggage compartment to prevent the vehicle from toppling/ slipping off the lifting platform!
When supporting components, make sure that:
- the vehicle can no longer be raised or lowered
- the vehicle does not lift off the locating plates on the lifting platform
Necessary Preliminary Tasks:
- Version with ride-height control: Deactivate and empty air spring system
- Remove brake disc on both sides
- Disconnect handbrake Bowden cable on both sides from handbrake lever
- Detach plug connection for pulse generator on both sides and expose line up to control arm
- Detach plug connection for brake pad wear sensor on right and expose line up to control arm
- Version with ride-height control: Remove air spring on both sides from wheel carrier
- Remove propeller shaft from rear differential and tie back or remove completely if necessary
- If necessary, disconnect plug connections at ride-height sensors
- If necessary, detach vent line from rear differential
- Remove impact absorber on both sides from swinging arm
If necessary, position special tool 00 2 040 with a 2nd person helping on workshop jack 00 2 030.
Insert special tools 33 4 226 and 33 4 221 into corresponding mountings of special tool 00 2 040.
Align special tool 00 2 040 to rear axle carrier.
If necessary, lower special tool 33 3 274.
Support rear axle carrier by raising special tool 00 2 040.
Release screws on both sides and remove stop plate.
Lower rear axle carrier.
Remove coil sping.
Installation:
Check threads for damage; if necessary, repair with Helicoil thread inserts.
Installation:
Position stop plates (1) on 4 rubber mounts.
After Installation:
- Version with ride-height control: Activate and fill air suspension system
- Adjust handbrake
