41 62 007 Removing And Installing Rear Lid Lower Section

Remove trim for rear lid lower section.
Disconnect electric plug connections and pull wiring harness out of rear lid.







Open rear lid until screw (1) is accessible (risk of injury by spring tension).

CAUTION: When second support (2) is released, protect rear bumper by supporting rear lid.

With rear lid in this position, release screw (1) and insert in bore of support (2).







Raise front trim of rear lid lower section.
Release screws (1).
Remove trunk lid.

Installation:
Install rear lid lower section at screw locations to hinge. This dispenses with the need for adjustment after installation.
If necessary, fit rear lid lower section.







Installation:
Tape off hole openings (1) completely with clear adhesive tape (sourcing reference: BMW Parts Service).
Partially tape off middle opening (measurement A ≤ 1 mm to sealing bead).
