Removing and Installing/Replacing DSC Control Unit

Note:
First read out fault memory and if necessary print diagnostic trouble code.
After installing control unit, you must recode new control units. On cars with DSC, you must also carry out an adjustment of the steering angle sensor. This is performed with the DIS (Diagnosis and Information System) under the menu item Service functions.
Carry out end-of-belt test with DIS (Diagnosis and Information System).

M62:
- Remove left headlight.
- Remove equipment carrier.
If necessary, detach auxiliary water pump with holder from body. Disconnect electric connection and press auxiliary water pump to one side.





Unfasten plug connection lock (1) in direction (2). Detach plug connection (1) in direction (3) vertically towards top.
Installation: Position plug connection (1) vertically on control unit so as to avoid damaging pins.





Release screws (1) and detach control unit (2) from hydraulic unit.
Installation:

Replace screws (1).





Check sealing surface (1) for damage (visual inspection).
Clean sealing surface (1); do not use any sharp-edged tools or aggressive cleaning agents for this purpose.
Check contact lugs (2) for corrosion or damage.
Installation: Replace hydraulic unit if damage to sealing surface (1) or contact lugs (2) is found.





Carefully push control unit (1) onto hydraulic unit (2). Make sure solenoid coils are not tilted.





Housing edge of control unit (1) must slip over shoulder on hydraulic unit (2).





Press control unit onto hydraulic unit and install screws (1) + (2) uniformly (do not tighten down) until control unit rests evenly on hydraulic unit.
Install screws (1) - (6), do not tighten down.
Tighten down screws (1) - (6) in specified sequence with a torque wrench.
Installation: Use new screws.
