Replacing One Upper Control Arm [33 32 071]




33 32 071 Replacing one upper control arm

Note: If the control arm is detached from the rear axle carrier, it is necessary after reinstallation to carry out a wheel/chassis alignment check.

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Version with air spring:
- Deactivate and empty air spring system. Service and Repair
- Remove rear wheel. Service and Repair

Version with coil spring:
- Remove brake caliper and tie back to body.Service and Repair
- Remove rear pulse generator.
- Support wheel carrier with workshop jack.
- Remove shock absorber from swinging arm.

Important! Check sensor head and line from pulse generator prior to installation for external damage, replacing if necessary.




- Unfasten nut.

Installation:

- Keep control arm to wheel carrier connection clean and free from oil and grease.

- Replace self-locking nut.
Tightening torque 165 Nm.




- Open flaps (1) on line holder (2).

- Unhook lines.

- Release nut and remove plastic shim (3).

Installation:

- Line holder must be replaced.



- Make sure lines are correctly laid.



- Release nut (1) and remove screw.

- Take off control arm.

Installation:

- Note insertion direction of screw.

- Replace self-locking nut.

- Tighten bolt connection in normal position.
Tightening torque 100 Nm.

After installation:

- Activate and fill air suspension system.

- Perform chassis alignment check. Service and Repair
